MANILA – The Philippine government has reintroduced its Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to help mitigate the impact of high living costs and unemployment. Under the program, eligible citizens will receive a one-time cash assistance of ₱2,000.
The initiative, aimed at providing financial relief to the most vulnerable populations, comes as inflation rates continue to rise, significantly affecting everyday goods and services. The government hopes that this targeted support will help households cope with increasing expenses, particularly in urban areas where costs are higher.
The reactivation of SAP is also seen as a step toward bolstering public trust and alleviating social unrest in the wake of economic challenges. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will oversee the distribution, ensuring that the assistance reaches those who need it the most.
