Police Recover Firearm on Edinburgh Path Amid Ongoing Gang Feud Investigation

SECURITY & DEFENSE

Police have recovered a firearm on Edinburgh’s Roseburn Path, believed to be linked to a continuing gangland feud in Scotland. The discovery occurred around 11 a.m. on June 11, 2025, during a search operation as part of Operation Portaledge, a police initiative targeting escalating gang violence, including car bombings, shootings, and arson attacks that began in March. The path, popular among cyclists and pedestrians, had been closed for six days prior to the find.

Detective Chief Superintendent David Ferry confirmed that multiple weapons have been recovered as part of this operation. He expressed hope that this latest find would reassure the community of the police’s continued commitment to targeting organized crime. Authorities have arrested 42 individuals, visited over 8,000 properties, stopped more than 1,600 vehicles, and recovered 14 stolen cars as part of the ongoing investigation.

The police have urged anyone with further information to come forward to assist in their efforts to suppress gang-related violence. While recent shootings in Spain resulted in the deaths of two men with connections to Scottish crime families, police have stated there is no evidence of a direct link between these incidents and the domestic feud.

The investigation continues as authorities work to dismantle the network of organized crime groups responsible for the recent surge in violence.
