UK TO DELIVER MORE RAVEN MISSILE SYSTEMS TO STRENGTHEN UKRAINE’S AIR DEFENCE

SECURITY & DEFENSE

LONDON, The UK government has CONFIRMED the delivery of five additional British-made RAVEN MISSILE SYSTEMS to Ukraine, in a continued effort to bolster Kyiv’s air defence capabilities amid intensifying Russian aerial assaults.

The announcement marks the latest phase in the UK’s ongoing military aid, which has included long-range weapons, drone technology, and advanced radar systems. The Raven system is specifically designed to intercept cruise missiles, drones, and low-flying aircraft—critical threats in Ukraine’s contested airspace.

Defence Secretary John Healey said in a statement:

“This latest delivery demonstrates our unyielding support for Ukraine’s sovereignty. The Raven system will provide vital protection for Ukrainian cities, infrastructure, and frontline forces.”

The Raven, developed by British defence manufacturers in coordination with NATO standards, offers rapid deployment, high mobility, and precision targeting, making it a key asset in Ukraine’s layered defence strategy.

Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov welcomed the move, saying the systems will “significantly enhance our national resilience and safeguard civilian lives.”

The delivery comes as NATO allies prepare for the June summit in Washington, where long-term security guarantees for Ukraine are expected to top the agenda. Analysts say the UK’s continued contributions reflect both strategic alignment and political pressure to maintain European unity in support of Ukraine.

Critics, however, have raised concerns about the sustainability of Western arms supplies, citing limited industrial output and escalating costs.

Still, UK officials insist this new batch of systems is part of a planned, multi-year defence support package, and emphasize that British stockpiles remain “robust and replenishable.”
