Humanitarian organizations in Türkiye are stepping up their relief efforts this Ramadan, delivering aid both locally and abroad. Their focus includes supporting earthquake-affected regions in Türkiye while also extending assistance to crisis-stricken areas like Gaza and Syria. Through civil society organizations (CSOs), Türkiye is set to reach millions in need throughout the holy month.

The Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) has launched a large-scale initiative under the theme “Our Hearts and Tables Are One This Ramadan.” The organization aims to assist 7.1 million people with aid worth TL 1.922 billion ($52.8 million).

Kızılay’s Ramadan program includes distributing food packages, canned meat, and holiday clothing, alongside financial assistance for struggling families. More than 65,000 iftar meals will be served daily, ensuring that vulnerable individuals have access to nutritious food throughout Ramadan.

Additionally, Kızılay has allocated TL 462 million in cash aid to over 672,000 people in Türkiye. Out of this, TL 128.5 million will support 184,000 individuals across 11 provinces that suffered significant damage in last year’s devastating earthquakes.

Food aid worth TL 400 million will be distributed nationwide, benefiting over 764,000 people. In earthquake-affected regions, TL 113.3 million has been set aside to support more than 206,000 residents still recovering from the disaster.

Beyond Türkiye’s borders, Kızılay is expanding its humanitarian reach to Gaza. As part of its special Ramadan initiatives, the organization will send a “Kindness Ship” carrying 1,000 tons of essential aid to Palestinians facing severe hardships.

Türkiye Diyanet Foundation to Support 2.5 Million People

The Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) is also playing a major role in Ramadan relief efforts, with plans to provide TL 450 million in aid. This assistance includes food packages, shopping cards, and holiday clothing, benefiting around 2.5 million people in Türkiye and beyond.

In Türkiye’s earthquake-hit areas, TDV will serve iftar meals to 135,000 people daily through six community dining tables. These efforts aim to bring comfort to families still struggling with the aftermath of last year’s natural disaster.

TDV is also prioritizing aid for Palestinians. The foundation will deliver 50 humanitarian aid trucks to Gaza, ensuring that 250,000 Palestinians receive iftar, suhoor, and hot meals throughout the month.

Beyond food assistance, TDV is continuing its “Gift a Quran” project in collaboration with the Presidency of Religious Affairs. Through this initiative, the foundation will distribute 73,000 Qurans in nine different languages to Muslims in 19 countries.

Expanding Humanitarian Reach

Türkiye’s humanitarian organizations remain committed to supporting those in need during Ramadan. Their efforts extend across borders, offering relief to earthquake survivors, displaced communities, and individuals struggling with poverty.

By providing food, financial assistance, and essential aid, these organizations ensure that millions can observe Ramadan with dignity. Their ongoing initiatives highlight Türkiye’s dedication to global humanitarian support, reinforcing the spirit of unity and generosity during the holy month.
